Babysitter Check List

This month I have had the privilege of working with some great youth in my Babysitter Courses. We decided we should compile a list of questions the Babysitter’s should ask the parents.

  • Home Address (i recommend having it posted near the phone or on the fridge in case of emergency)
  • Phone #’s for the parents
  • Location the parents will be with address and phone #
  • Schedule they would like the kids to follow (meals, bed times, time limits on tv/games?)
  • Expectations for the home (clean up dishes/toys/other items)
  • Is there a helpful neighbor in an emergency?
  • Is there a family member living close to call if parents are not reachable?

Do you have any other tips to help these ladies thrive as Babysitters? Post them in the comments

Great Story to Remember!

A well-known speaker started off his seminar holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, “Who would like this $20 bill?” Hands started going up. He said, “I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this.” He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill.

He then asked, “Who s…till wants it?” Still the hands were up in the air. “Well,” he replied, “What if I do this?” And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. “Now, who still wants it?” Still the hands went into the air.

“My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20.

Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who DO LOVE you.

The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE ARE.

You are special!!! Don’t EVER forget it!

One of our favorite organizations to support is

Check it out today and make an impact in a child’s life.  To get you inspired, take a look at just a couple notes we got from students and teachers on projects we have supported!

Dear Sam,

Thank you so much for funding my project! I love that fact that people like you are reinvesting in their communities and helping out the schools in their area. Its one of those things that when students realize that they have support from all sorts of people are them that they are more invested in the community themselves.

I am really excited to get these materials before school ended so now my students can enjoy using them during our physics unit. You have perfect timing! Thanks again!!

With gratitude,
Ms. B

Dear Sam,

Now that the school year has started, it becomes even more apparent on how much your gift has impacted my students’ learning. Last year, I was able to use your gift as an enrichment activity since it was fairly late in the year. However, this year I was able to use it a center piece for the introduction of Newton’s Laws and let students use to create hypotheses about the actions of the tube.

I really thank you for providing the funds to help with this and how such a gift affects my classroom year after year. I really means a lot to me that folks out there like you are willing to make this type of donation.

With gratitude,

Ms. Boettcher
