You are Special!

A well-known speaker started off his seminar holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, “Who would like this $20 bill?” Hands started going up. He said, “I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this.” He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill.

He then asked, “Who s…till wants it?” Still the hands were up in the air. “Well,” he replied, “What if I do this?” And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. “Now, who still wants it?” Still the hands went into the air.

“My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20.

Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who DO LOVE you.

The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE ARE.

You are special!!! Don’t EVER forget it!

Hands Only CPR

This video, taken from the American Heart Association’s website, gives you Hands Only CPR instructions.

Most people who experience cardiac arrest at home, work or in a public location die because they don’t receive immediate CPR from someone on the scene. As a bystander, don’t be afraid. Your actions can only help.

How to give Hands-only CPR:
If you see a teen or adult suddenly collapse, call 9-1-1 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest to the beat of the classic disco song “Stayin’ Alive.” CPR can more than double a person’s chances of survival, and “Stayin’ Alive” has the right beat for Hands-Only CPR.

CPR for your Pet?

This week a friend posted on Facebook that he witnessed a person performing CPR on their dog. It brought about quite a few comments and so I thought I’d dedicate this blog post to all the pet-lover’s out there!

While I don’t personally offer CPR classes with pet manikins I would be happy to help you learn the proper technique for performing CPR for your beloved companion.

Make sure you lay your dog on his right side, this brings his heart to the top of his body where you will have clean access to begin your compressions. Did you know that you give your resuscitation breaths through your dog’s nose; not his mouth. This is because you can’t get a tight seal around his mouth. If your dog is small enough you might be able to get your mouth around his mouth and nose and form a tight seal; just depends on the size of your dog.

Here’s an informational video on Animal CPR.

**Note that the # of compressions for animals is different than on humans. In the video she does 15 compressions 1 breath; For humans we do 30 compressions 2 breaths!**

Now Booking Fall CPR Training Classes

Whether you are looking to gain CPR Certification, renew your CPR Certification, or just want to know CPR for your own personal peace of mind…NOW is the time!

Even if your job doesn’t require you to be CPR Certified it is a great education to have. NTX CPR offers non-certification courses, called “CPR for Family and Friends”.  In this course you will learn all the basic steps of CPR and First Aid; allowing you to be confident that if an emergency situation arises you will be equipped to help SAVE a LIFE!

It is the belief of NTX CPR that every parent should know when and how to properly perform CPR.  When CPR is performed properly it can save a life by restoring blood flow to the heart, brain, and other organs and restore breathing until more advanced life support can be given by trained professionals (911 response team).

Part of our training is to help identify if truly someone needs CPR.  CPR might be necessary in a variety of different emergencies such as bike or car accidents, playground accidents, near-drowning, suffocation, poisoning, electrocution injuries, smoke inhalation, and suspected sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and in many other circumstances.

CPR is most effective when started as quickly as possible after determining CPR is the right choice for the victim. NTX CPR trains you extensively on how to approach and assess a victim in a safe manner.

NTX CPR offers hands-on classes providing each individual his/her own manikin to practice the proper administration of CPR.  This in-depth training experience helps the individual the gain confidence he/she needs to help save a life in an emergency situation.
